Lately I’ve found myself spending way too much time over at crowdSPRING one of those uppety startups that no real person has heard about but everyone else wants to be a part of. Seriously though, it’s a great place for creative people and for people who need to have things created.

To Experiment, or Not To Experiment
I thought I would take the time to discuss some of the choices and details that went into this version of frdk.com ... who knows, it might be of interest. The first decision I faced was if I should continue using this site for experimentation, or not. Experimenting, “living on the edge” as some call it, is half the fun of web development. On the other hand, if you experiment too much, chances are that your audience will find it off-putting. Especially if they can’t really partake in the experiments. In the end I decided to keep it up. Because it’s fun. ;)

The font used in the headline is Stone Print Roman, 48pt, with neutral kerning.
I think that my fascination for type began with transfers. I’ve always liked letter shapes, the curves and slants, but transfers turned a budding interest into a passion. I think. Letraset sheets all over the place. Remember? Maybe you’re too young to know what it was like, what do I know. Anyway. Here are some of my favourite fonts, post-Letraset era. (I say “some”, because like with music, I’m bound to forget one or more.) What’s your favourite Roman? Gothic? Modern? It would be fun to know. Comments are off.
